Cancellation of Laurel Events for May and June Due to COVID-19

Mayor Craig A. Moe, the 150th Anniversary Executive Committee and Laurel Board of Trade have agreed that due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, and in compliance with Governor Hogan’s Executive Order prohibiting gatherings of more than 10 people, the following events have been cancelled, with the hope that some will be rescheduled in the future:

  • May 2 – LakeFest
  • May 9 – Main Street Festival
  • May 16 – National Kids to Parks Day
  • June 5 – Bike Decorating Parade
  • June 6 – Day at the Races

Also, the Celebrate Laurel Today Birthday Bash at McCullough Field, scheduled for September 26th, is also being cancelled. Mayor Moe hopes to see this rescheduled at a later date, once we are past the COVID-19 pandemic and we can all truly celebrate together.

Mayor Moe will meet with the 150th Anniversary Executive Committee and other organizations in the next few weeks to look at other possible cancellations past the middle of June.
